‘The River Rolls On’ by Mary West
is a body of work that explores our relationship with nature and takes
solace in the unending flow of the tides and seasons. As a London-based
artist, Mary finds herself surrounded by an urban forest that inspires
her deeply - and it is from here she draws on its mystery and beauty.
Mary’s work merges abstract and figurative elements that explore
landscape through light, space and texture. Inspired by memories and
emotions tied to specific places, her paintings emerge through intuitive
gestures and layers, capturing fleeting moments. Chance accidents
keep the process exciting, leading her down unexpected paths.
Mary was born in London and studied at The Slade School Of Fine
Art. She has become a significant presence in the contemporary art
scene both in the UK and abroad and has been selected for numerous
group exhibitions. This is her first solo show with Lucinda
Dalton Gallery.
